GUIDE & TECHNICAL NOTES

How to use Image Metadata Cleaner

Remove EXIF, GPS, camera details, and source metadata by exporting a clean copy.

  1. 01Choose the image to clean.
  2. 02Select output format and quality.
  3. 03Re-encode and download a copy without source metadata.

How metadata is removed

Only decoded pixels are painted into a new Canvas and encoded as a new file. Source EXIF, GPS, comments, and camera fields are never copied.

A note about color

Re-encoding may also drop an ICC color profile and export in the browser canvas color space. Keep the original when color-managed print work matters.

Frequently asked questions

Is the original file modified?

No. The browser creates a separate clean copy.

How can I verify private fields are gone?

The new file is built from pixels without source metadata. You can still inspect the download with a dedicated metadata viewer.
