GUIDE & TECHNICAL NOTES
How to use Image Compressor
Adjust JPG or WebP quality, re-encode PNG, and compare file size before downloading.
- 01Choose a JPG, PNG, or WebP image.
- 02Set output quality and start compression.
- 03Review the size difference and download the result.
Choosing image quality
For photos, 80% is a practical starting point. Lower values reduce size but can soften text and fine detail. PNG is losslessly re-encoded, so a smaller result is not guaranteed.
Why browser processing is fast
The image is decoded and exported from device memory, avoiding upload, server queue, and download delays. Actual speed depends on image dimensions and device performance.
Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded?
No. Decoding, compression, and download happen inside this browser tab.
Why can a PNG become larger?
Canvas re-encodes pixels but may not beat a specialized optimizer used by the original PNG.
