GUIDE & TECHNICAL NOTES
How to use Image Cropper
Enter a free crop rectangle or use centered 1:1, 16:9, and 4:3 presets.
- 01Choose an image.
- 02Apply an aspect preset or enter X, Y, width, and height.
- 03Crop, preview, and download.
Understanding crop coordinates
X and Y start at the image's top-left corner; width and height define the retained region. Values outside the image are safely clamped.
Uses for common ratios
1:1 is common for avatars, 16:9 for video covers, and 4:3 for slides and photos. Presets create the largest centered rectangle that fits.
Frequently asked questions
Does cropping reduce detail in the retained area?
It does not resize that area, although output format encoding can affect compression quality.
Can I crop a transparent image?
Yes. Choose PNG or WebP to retain transparency.
